There’s a bit of everything in Italy. In the north there are incredible alpine mountains with bright blue lakes collecting in the valleys. There are hills rolling through Tuscany. Many towns are built along the steep cliffs leading down to the sea. As you drive along the country if you look on the bigger hilltops you can see fortified cities (or their remnants) built with strategic positioning. To that end, almost any place you stop you can find history.
